European Oak is supplied in many grades with FAS being most widely using for many joinery products. The timber is clear straight grained planks, including some knots, shake and sap is a part of each board.
General: The heartwood is light to biscuit colour mostly straight grained, can have some cross grain depending on the growing conditions.
European Oak has very good steam bending classification but can have some blue stain; the hearwood is durable however the sapwood is permeable.
Grades range from Prime Square edged to FAS & character grade, moisture average between 12 to 13%.
